About Without Form

After reading the poem, I chose the lines whose beauty fascinated me most. I used the sounds and the atmosphere these sentences suggested as inspiration to build the piece.

Roly Porter

Roly Porter is an experimental electronic musician and composer. He began his career as part of Vex’d working alongside Kuedo, then in 2011 returned to Subtext Records to begin a solo career with the album “Aftertime” This album was born from a collaborative residency at Alderburgh for the “Faster Than Sound” series with Ondiste, Cynthia Millar. Following “Aftertime” Roly released “Life Cycle for a Massive Star” on Subtext Records and “Third Law” on TriAngle Records.

His live performances, often collaborations with video artist Marcel Weber, have toured extensively across the world. His latest AV show, combining video and a large array of strobes, has been described as “a rapture event, a pre-sentiment of the end, as aesthetically bracing as it was transporting” Roly’s latest project, to score Gareth Pugh’s SS18 show for London Fashion Week at the Imax.

The film, directed by Nick Knight featured performer Olivier Sagazan and choreography from Wayne Mcgregor.
